One of my favorite moments with Mike and Trish involves that very situation.
I found myself in a similar situation in the car this evening. You find yourself talking about nothing after you have been driving for 300 miles. Marc was just trying to make conversation (in the form of a debate) by telling me, “By the way…that werewolf guy is like 23, married, and has a kid.” He was referring to Jacob, whom I had told Marc was definitely attractive but I didn’t really have a thing for him because he is really young. I happen to KNOW that his name is Taylor, he’s not married, and he is not a parent. I confirmed my facts by telling him, “In fact, he is dating Taylor Swift right now…the Morning Mash Up talks about it all the time.” Of course he got all fiery and responded, “They’re wrong…just like they said Robert Pattinson is the sexiest man alive, when in fact People Magazine chose Johnny Depp.”
Sigh…then it has to get all serious….I KNEW I was right this time and I wasn’t going to back down. Luckily, it ended before hostility took over. I mentioned that we were having a Mikey moment and laughed. Then I teased him about how pissy he gets when someone argues with him. I think he conceded (without actually conceding) because he let the topic go. I am anxious to get on the Internet though…I can’t wait to prove that I was right “this” time ;).
Well we are half way through our road trip to the Smokey Mountains. We are spending a week in a cabin up there with my mom, my grandma, and Ryan for Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving there two years ago and it was awesome. We flew last time though. We decided that the kids are old enough for a “real” adventure…road trip. It has been smooth sailing so far with only a few rough spots of traffic. The kids have been AWESOME…although they have been sleeping the last two hours.
We stopped at a hotel for the evening and will drive another five hours to our destination tomorrow. I could have driven a little longer tonight (I had a 30 minute cat nap) but being the control freak that Marc is…that was NOT going to happen. He would rather force himself to stay awake longer and be uncomfortable then hand the wheel over to me. I don’t blame him though…I AM a typical Vegas driver ;).
