Homesick with a Birthday Hat

The only downfall of this whole trip is how homesick it has made me. I have had such a GREAT time with Shanna and Jessica. Shanna and I are so similar…it makes me sad knowing how much closer we could be if we lived closer. She is the closest thing to a sister that I’ve got and I wish so much that the kids could experience their Aunt and Uncle more…I know they’re GREAT ones. She is my “Raising Helen”. If only Vegas wasn’t VEGAS…I’d demand to be back home in a heartbeat. Friday night was supposed to be low key, but it ended up being very entertaining. Dinner was fantastic and it included more gifts, cake, and candles. I may not have blown 30 candles out at once, but I have blown out enough candles at various times this past week that I am sure the total is close to 30. Shanna and Brian got me a very cute “birthday cake” martini glass. She wrapped a birthday crown around it…which she INSISTED that I wear. I would regret giving in to her later ;). That damn crown drew WAY to much attention. We decided to watch the Junkaroo Band and a Reggae band perform. I was pulled up to the stage area three times because of that darn thing…I could have killer her ;). I had to shake some cow bells, lead the conga line, AND dance in front of the whole audience. Thank goodness for champagne…I was actually a pretty good spirit about the whole thing (even though I could see Marc laughing at me from the audience). We finally got our beach day yesterday. Sandals has a private island that you can take a ferry to. We didn’t get to spend much time on it because we rushed back to the resort for some snorkel time. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the weather. Although it was very sunny out, the wind hadn't really let down...I guess the water was too choppy. We found a spot on the beach and listened to music and waves for most of the day. Shanna and I had our noses stuck in our books and she was still reading when I left. I probably could have stayed right there with her until sunset...it was so relaxing. The massage was wonderful too though...I had a much easier time relaxing. After our massages, Marc and I went to a nice candlelit dinner on the pier. The food AND the service were both great. It was nice spending our last night together alone and reminiscing about what a wonderful time this trip has been. I enjoyed his company more than ever during this trip. Right now I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have such an amazing AND FUN husband.
He was even more of a partier than I was last night. After our lovely romantic dinner we met up with our crew at the pub and enjoyed a looooong night of fun. I kept my drinking to a minimum so I got to see more of the drunk side of my aunt than usual (she did NOT keep her drinking to a minimum AND I am usually right along with her so my perception isn't all too keen ;). We attempted to play ping pong and snooker...I think that's the name. We ended the night with tape and wieners...the best way to end a night of partying is with a nice foot long...hot dog that is :)Needless to say, we did not see anyone before we left this morning...I wouldn't want to be them flying today :(. On the plane and missing them all so much already. Marc and Shanna are always a hoot to watch...they interact so playfully and well together. However, one of my favorite moments on this trip was when I saw Jess sitting on Marc's lap last night. It made my night seeing him interact with her like he does with my other close girlfriends. She is one of my favorite girls in the world I would love the two of them to have a comfortable relationship. This has been one of the greatest vacations EVER. It's funny how things work out sometimes...Shanna and Brian didn't even decide to join us until September. Once I saw them I KNEW it should have been them coming all along...NEVER again will I make that mistake. It was the six of us TOGETHER that MADE this trip. I want to thank ALL of you for making every day a special one and memories that will last a lifetime. I LOVE my thirties...so far ;)~.
