Island Dance Fever

We are here in the Bahamas and it is AWESOME. Shanna, Brian, Jessica, and Hazel met us down here (a birthday treat to myself as Marc likes to say :) Our group is PERFECT…wishing the weather would follow suit. I can’t complain too much though…if we were going to get a shitty day, today is the perfect day for it. A totally lazy day was needed after the craziness of last night (good crazy for once :).

Shanna and Brian
Hazel and Jessica

Let’s start with Wednesday. It was mostly a day of traveling. We left the house early in the morning and didn’t get to Sandals until after 3PM. We were given a quick tour of the resort before we had to be at our spa appointments at 4. I actually didn’t really enjoy my massage. I think I was still feeling a little guilty about leaving the kids AND I was way too excited to see my guests.

I don’t think we actually met up with them until after 7. We had a 30 minute wait for dinner so we mingled in the piano bar for a while. Dinner was not exactly good, the food was okay but the service SUCKS here. I think 4 out of 5 staff are UNpleasant (they act completely annoyed when you ask for ANYTHING). I got wonderful gifts though. Shanna and Brian got me a beautiful dainty watch…I can’t wait to wear it out. I love my Rolexes and all, but they aren’t exactly small and dainty. They just don’t fit when I want a sweet yet classy look. Jessica NEVER lets me down. I was excited the instant I saw the little blue box…TIFFANY’S! She and Hazel got me a diamond pendant that matches the earrings Marc got me when we were first dating. It will be nice to have her close to my heart all the time :).

After dinner, candles, and cake we took over the hot tub. It seemed like we owned the place. We had the whole pool area to ourselves. Marc and I were pooped so we didn’t stay out very late. I knew that I needed to get lots of rest (and make Marc get lots too) if I was going to pull off my plans for Thursday evening. I also had to be up for a pedicure appointment at 10.

We all missed breakfast Thursday morning. It’s one thing to have breakfast for lunch and another to have lunch for breakfast…blah...AND it sucked. Thank gawd they have a pizzeria here as back up (it’s actually really good). Free alcohol doesn’t hurt either. We all started early with pina coladas, rum punches, and redbull with vodkas. I didn’t think I would ever see the day that Marc would have a redbull and vodka so close to noon (where is my husband). I have to admit, he has done so well at doing “nothing” on this trip. He does NOT do that very well. I know sitting by the pool doing nothing for a few hours was very hard for him (the redbull helped ;). I made it up to him by playing tennis for a few hours. I didn’t exactly play well (I was kind of drunk already) but at least I played :).

The group met up for drinks at the resort pub around 6. We
were enjoying ourselves so much that we probably could have stayed there all night had our tummies not started roaring at us that they were starving. Besides, we looked way too chic…the club was calling our name. We piled in a cab and headed for Atlantis. OMG…was it beautiful. It reminded me a lot of home, Vegas, actually. We are taking the kids back there for Christmas break and I am so excited to experience it with them.

We ate at the Bahamian Club for dinner. Brian will forever be known as the $20 shrimp guy. He ordered surf and turf for $20 more instead of just steak. It came with only ONE shrimp…it was hilarious. We all begged for a bite wondering what such an expensive shrimp tasted like, but none of us really had the heart to take a piece.

I think we went to the club somewhere between 10 and 11. Marc was anything BUT excited. I think I had to drag him along…he was probably hoping the entire time that I would be too pooped and decide to just head back to Sandals…NO WAY. It didn’t take long for him to lighten up though. It was kind of dead when we got there…but that’s okay, it gave us the room to act like we owned the bar ;). It was time for shEEEots!!! Six Patrone shots never looked so beautiful. Marc took his like a champ. Poor Haze…I didn’t know that it would really make him puke. What a guy though…he took it with the rest of us like a man, then headed straight to the bathroom.

After a couple shEEEots our group hit the dance floor. There’s no workout like that of dancing your ass off in high heels. I think it was the first time Marc and I had ever been to a real dance club together. I know I was determined to get myself drunk enough so I could let loose with him and I succeeded. Once I got him out there it was actually hard to get him off ;). The same was true with the shEEEots…he was reluctant to take the first one but then he was helping everyone out the rest of the night. If I ordered a round for us girls he would drink half of the shots. This will probably sound weird, but not only do I love the way Marc is with me when he’s drunk…I LOVE how he acts with my friends too. He gets so flirty and fun.
You will be able to see from the pictures that we were the life of the club. I wish we could have gotten a good group picture. I think we all looked great. I had a little mishap with my dress when we arrived. Somehow I managed to poke my high heel through my dress when I got out of the taxi…that is quite an accomplishment when you take into account how short the dress is. So, as I started out saying, the weather is pretty shitty today. It’s definitely not a beach day. Marc and I just lounged around the room all morning. We played tennis with Shanna and Brian for a couple of hours this afternoon…they held their own very well. They took us all the way to a tie break. After they left Marc and I played together. I probably played the best tennis I have ever played during that last half hour. I was hitting the ball so well that I didn’t want to quit, but I wanted to give myself enough time to get ready for dinner…hibatchi tonight :)
